The Great Migration | CoExistence London 2021
One of two drawings created in advance of the herd arriving in London. They are, if you like, artists imaginations, blueprints for the impact a herd of these majestic animals might make if they were to take back just a little bit of our space in London.
Several months, and years later it has come true. As the ideas between curator Ruth Ganesh and makers the Real Elephant Collective in Tamul Nadu, India, developed so did the drawings. George Butler created the ink drawings in situ in London and then the collaged elephants began to populate the spaces as ambitions and excitement and numbers grew.
We never thought it was possible but these prints do justice to a moment in history when we confirmed in our minds that sharing space with other species was crucial for the survival of planet earth,
